(Subclass 600) Visitor Visas

This visa allows you to enter Australia for a holiday or recreation, or for those that wish to visit family and friends. You must demonstrate a genuine intention to visit as a tourist or to visit family and friends. The length of stay granted will depend on your circumstances and purpose of your visit. This visa can be granted for up to 12 months stay in Australia.

The Australian government recently changed the law in regard to this visa to allow parents of Australian Citizens a visa that allows for multiple entries for stays up to a period of 12 Months on each occasion.

As part of an application you must show that you have access to adequate funds to cover the length of stay in Australia. You must meet health and character requirements.

On this visa you can study for up to 3 months but you are not allowed to work.

Visitor visas are usually granted with a condition 8503 attached to them, meaning that you are prevented from making another visa application while in Australia. This condition can be waived in certain compelling or compassionate circumstances and where these circumstances changed beyond your control.

Sponsored Family Visitor Visa 

Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

This visa allows you to come to Australia to visit your family or for tourism.

This visa allows you to come to Australia to visit family and friend and engage in tourism for up to 3 Months. It is possible to be granted this visa for up to 6, 9 or 12 months depending on your circumstance.
You must have a genuine intention to visit Australia to visit family in Australia or for Tourism.
Applicants must meet medical and character criteria.

Sponsorship

You must be sponsored by your relative in Australia.

Your relative Sponsor must be an Australian Citizen who is over 18 years of age and has been settled in Australia for 2 years. Fiancés, cousins or friends are ineligible to be sponsors.

The following can act as your sponsor:

  • a relative (partner, parent, child, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or the ‘step’ or adopted equivalent of any of these)
  • a relative of a person who is a member of the family unit of the applicant and who is also applying for a Sponsored Family Visitor visa (such as the spouse of your sibling)
  • a member of an Australian parliament (Commonwealth, State or Territory)
  • an authorised person representing a Commonwealth, State or Territory department or instrumentality
  • a local government mayor.

Security Bond

In an effort to ensure that the visa applicant observes the conditions attached to their visa a sponsor may be required to lodge a bond. Depending on your circumstance this bond can range from $5000 – $15000. Circumstances where a bond may be requested include where there are concerns that the visa applicant will not observe the conditions attached to the visa. The money is refunded to the sponsor once the visa holder leaves Australia.
